Every child’s path through English looks different. Some need time to build confidence, others need structure, and many need gentle, consistent support alongside school.
Owl Teaching tutoring clubs are designed to meet children where they are — helping them grow steadily in reading, writing, comprehension and SPaG.
Children work at their own pace, with clear guidance and feedback provided, so progress feels manageable, achievable and confidence-building over time.
The early years matter. Our Year 3/4 clubs focus on building secure foundations in English, giving children the skills they need before the pressure of exams begins.
Lessons develop core reading, writing and grammar skills while encouraging children to express their ideas with confidence.
Focus areas include:
Reading fluency and understanding
Vocabulary and sentence structure
Grammar, spelling and punctuation basics
Building confidence in expressing ideas
Clubs: Reading, Writing, Comprehension and SPaG
As exams approach, children need clarity, structure and reassurance. Our Year 5/6 clubs deepen understanding in English while supporting confident preparation for Key Stage 2 SATs, 11+ assessments and the transition to secondary school.
Lessons focus on refining skills, developing exam awareness and helping children apply what they know calmly and effectively.
Focus areas include:
Inference, analysis and deeper comprehension
Structured and purposeful writing
Secure spelling, punctuation and grammar
Exam-style techniques
Clubs: Reading, Writing, Comprehension and SPaG
"Initially, we chose the Comprehension and Writing clubs because this is where Archie needed the most support. We then decided to add SPaG and Reading as well. They’re easy to fit around our week." Mel
"We received an offer for our daughter today and, as you can imagine, she’s on cloud nine. We couldn’t have done it without your support. Thank you for keeping her on track and for taking the pressure off me." Ben
